Have you heard? Beija-Flor is having its annual Warehouse Sale at the Flagship Store in Downtown Greenville this weekend (June 1-3)! Warehouse sales are different from most other sales and they can often be a little intimidating—particularly if you're a warehouse sale rookie. But whether you're a newcomer or a seasoned veteran, you can easily have a fun and successful shopping experience by following these tips:
Get there early.
There will be a line.
Bring a friend.
It’s always more fun to shop with your peers!
Give yourself plenty of time to shop.
There are several racks and boxes to look through and time flies when you’re having fun, so keep that in mind as you plan your trip to the sale.
Make sure you are well hydrated.
Sometimes you get so caught up walking around shopping that you forget to take a water break. Remember, your health is more important than discount jeans.
Wear a dress/skirt.
There will be communal fitting rooms, but if you don’t want to wait in line or if you’re uncomfortable changing around a bunch of strangers, you can easily/quickly try on a pair of jeans by slipping them on under your skirt.
Wear comfortable shoes that easily slip on/off for changing.
Wear a camisole to try on blouses.
Try on a size up and a size down from your normal size.
These jeans may fit differently than other brands, so we recommend trying different sizes to ensure you find the best fit.
If you like it, buy it.
If you don’t get it now, someone else will, and you’ll miss out on something you love at a great price. Also, don’t rule out an item just because it’s out of season. If you find something you absolutely love but wouldn’t wear it till Fall/Winter, you should still buy it! You won’t be able to buy it for a cheaper price if you wait.

As co-founder and CEO of Beija-Flor Jeans, Emilie Whitaker has harnessed her entrepreneurial savvy and innate awareness of what consumers want and need to turn legions of women into “Beija-Believers.” Emilie’s innovative, passionate and thoughtful approach to fashion has landed her in countless profiles including a recent Women in Biz feature by Google. In this Spotlight, this designing woman, wife and mother shares a little insight about her life behind the seams.
WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO START BEIJA-FLOR?I never understood why it was so hard to find the perfect fitting jean. I always seemed to be trying to fit into something that clearly wasn’t designed with me in mind. It made me realize that most designers weren’t designing for the women that actually wore their clothing. On one of our trips to visit my father’s family in Brazil, my mother and I noticed how local designs seemed to embrace a woman’s curves in ways American styles did not. The proverbial light bulb went off and Beija-Flor Jeans was born. And ever since, we’ve focused on making women feel as amazing as possible in every piece of clothing we produce. YOUR CAREER MILESTONE:Getting over the fear of failure. I remember the moment I realized we had created something special. I had a buyer challenge something about the line and without fear of losing the sale, I confidently answered him back. He ended up buying the line for his stores. I realized then we had earned the right to be confident in our product and brand. YOUR FIRST JOB:Working in our family business, a women’s clothing store that my grandmother bought in 1979 when she was 66 years old. I probably learned more in that job than any other. ADVICE YOU WOULD GIVE YOUR 22-YEAR-OLD SELF:Listen to advice and even if you don't take it, be open to hearing it. YOUR HERO:My mom. She was diagnosed with breast cancer when she was 39 years old. After beating it, she participated in an outward bound program where she camped out overnight and carried her own canoe. Those experiences allowed her to approach life with no fear. Her courage and determination in her personal life have made her an incredibly hard worker who's always up for any challenge. She has brought that to Beija-Flor and continues to inspire me and our team. BEST CAREER ADVICE YOU’VE EVER RECEIVED:My dad has always given all of his children great career advice. One of his go-to phrases is "work smart." When overwhelmed with projects and timelines, I always remember those simple words. YOUR FASHION ICON:My sister, Anna, is one of the most fashionable people I know. I wish she would do all of my shopping. YOUR MOST OVERUSED PHRASE:It's a win-win! WHAT EXCITES YOU CAREER-WISE?I love innovation - from the cutting-edge fabrics that we continue to source to new methods of reducing our carbon footprint. I love to seek new and better ways to do business and create our collections. FIRST THING YOU DO IN THE MORNING AND LAST THING YOU DO BEFORE BED:Listen to my little girl tell me about her "crazy dreams." YOUR GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT:My marriage. I got lucky and found the love of my life, but we both work at creating a relationship our daughter can learn from. WHEN YOU WERE A KID, WHAT DID YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU GREW UP?At five - a fire woman. At 12 - Crazily enough I wanted to be the owner of a fashion company. WHAT MAKES YOU FEEL BEAUTIFUL?Being surrounded by people I love and making them laugh. WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT YOUR WORK?Our team works so hard to make every jean perfect - from choosing the most innovative fabric to obsessing over even the tiniest of details. There's nothing better than hearing a customer say how much she loves our work. It reminds me why we started the brand in the first place and makes all of this worth it. WORDS OF WISDOM FOR OTHER BUDDING FEMALE ENTREPRENEURS:I think all entrepreneurs need to develop a thick skin, especially women. When you put an idea or a business plan out into the world you will get tons of opinions and criticism. While it’s good to get feedback, I think women need to shelter themselves from all the people trying to tell them how to do something. My advice to female entrepreneurs can be summed up like this: Prepare for the situation. Empower yourself. Believe you can do it. WHAT’S NEXT FOR BEIJA-FLOR?So much! We’re expanding our core collection, adding amazing new washes and branching out into new textures. We are growing in ways that are beyond my wildest dreams and I love every second of it.
We have all struggled with Cropped Pants in the past and I decided it was time to figure out why this look can strike fear in women everywhere. First we don’t want to look stupid…ala Tom Brady wearing Uggs. Second we don’t want to look like we are trying too hard…ala Kim Kardashian smiling. And third (but most important), we don’t want to look fat...flashback to the Culottes worn by Louis XVI.
I have uncovered the five keys to looking sexy, hot, smart, stylish and of course fashionable in one of this season’s hottest trends…the Skinny Cropped Jean.
First, the Cropped Jean has to be Skinny. Nothing is going to make one of the skinniest parts of a woman’s body look bigger like a bootcut bottom hitting your lower leg. You want your Cropped Jean to hit at the skinniest part of your leg between your ankle and knee.
Second, the Crop needs to be a solid color. White, Black, Peach or Navy are just some of the hottest colors for Spring 2015.
Third, wear a dynamite shoe. I’m envisioning a stacked wedge sandal with a fresh pedicure. A heel is going to slim down your legs and of course, make you look taller. A ballerina flat is not going to do you any favors with this look so I would suggest saving that shoe for another day. Personally I like wearing a shoe the same color as your pant. This creates a streamlined silhouette and makes your legs look longer.
Fourth, get your spray tans ladies. Your legs have been hidden for months and nothing makes you look thinner than a little color. A spray tan will make you look healthier and you will not have any of those strange tans lines that come from using self-tanners. Don’t go overboard with this step, just be natural.
And last but not least, a flowing shear top. One of the easiest Spring 2015 trends is fringe. It is showing up in tops all over the market and very wearable on all body types.
I hope these tidbits have reminded you of how great a good pair of Cropped Skinny Jeans can be to your wardrobe.
yeah, that Greenville!Beija-Flor has opened it's second location in Downtown Greenville. Two North Main Street is located four blocks from Falls Park, one block from Mast General Store and across the street from Brooks Brothers and Anthropologie. As visitors and locals alike are saying....yeah, that Greenville! We could not resist the allure of our charming downtown. Downtown Greenville is brimming with an eclectic mix of strong national retailers and homespun originality just like the Denim Salon by Beija-Flor. Denim has proven itself to be a year-round trend, and we have some secrets to wearing it well this summer! Here are Beija-Flor’s “Top 6 Summer Essentials.”
With its wide-leg style and medium-wash, this lightweight jean is our “resort jean” for summer. The cut guarantees a trendy, flattering look, while the breathable material keeps it comfortable in the summer heat. This jean looks great with a flowy top for a relaxed look, or paired with a fitted blouse or tank for a more streamlined look.
This skirt is a great piece that you will find yourself wearing all the time. The pull-on-denim creates a slimming silhouette AND is super comfortable. You can carry your daytime look into the evening by switching out a pair of sandals with some wedges to dress up your outfit. Because of the elastic band, the Betsy skirt gives the freedom to wear any top without worrying about a button bump or any gaping at the waist.
Emilie Peace is a light wash jean that looks casual while still being stylish. This jean looks great with flip flops, a lightweight top, or even T-shirt. If you want to dress it up a little, or feel extra free-spirited, pair the Emilie with a flowy top, wedges, bangles, and other fun accessories.
With its memory stretch 3D white denim, the Elise is a flattering option for trendy summer style. This jean was created with warm weather in mind J Details like her small vents at the bottom of each leg are there to keep you comfortable during the summer months. Match this jean with any printed top to add a little flare to your summer wardrobe.
Looking for an alternative to the traditional jean this summer? The Kristen crop is perfect for warm weather while still being stylish in denim! The yellow contrast stitching allows for the jean to be cuffed and still trendy. Cuffed or not, the jean looks great with just about anything.
Summer is the perfect time to wear our classic jean in 3D white, offering the trendiness of a white jean without compromising on fit and style. The Judy was made for versatility. It can be paired with a colorful top for a “girls night out” or a simple T-shirt for a day of shopping, both looks leaving you looking summery and stylish! For a jean that everyone should have, we offer it in both bootcut and straight leg so everyone can find their perfect white jean this summer.
