Woman to Woman: Spotlight On... The Weather Channel's Alex Wilson!

In today's Spotlight, we're giving you off-screen access to The Weather Channel’s on-air star (and Beija-Believer), Alex Wilson! We originally got to know this weather woman on our hometown’s local news. It wasn't long before Alex’s dynamic personality and multiple distinctions from alma maters, Syracuse University and Penn State University, catapulted her out of Greenville and onto the national stage. When she’s not on camera, she can usually be found on the sidelines cheering for her college sports teams or spoiling her two adorable pups.  Take  a peek and get up close and personal with this incredible force of nature.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT YOUR WORK...

It's always different, and constantly challenging! I never feel like I'm bored or doing the same thing over and over. Plus, weather is something that's important to everyone, so I'm giving people information that's valuable to their day.

ADVICE YOU WOULD GIVE YOUR 22 YEAR OLD SELF...

Everything doesn't have to be perfect to work out! In many cases, you learn as much/more from mistakes... and don't be afraid to ask questions!

YOUR FASHION ICON...

There are a lot of celebrities who inspire me, even though I may not think I can totally pull off the look! Right now, I'm really into seeing what Kristen Taekman from Real Housewives of New York is wearing - she has a very classic but edgy look. And I love her hair!

YOUR MOST OVERUSED PHRASE...

Ha, these are very seasonal... once I notice them I try to avoid them. Right now I like to say "yeah yeah yeah" when I get excited about something... and "absolutely" is a common one too!

FIRST THING YOU DO IN THE MORNING AND LAST THING YOU DO BEFORE BED...

First thing in the morning: snuggle my two pups, Bandit and Riley. That's probably the last thing I do before bed, too - although I also like to check in with the news so I know what's going on in my community and the world.

YOU RELIEVE STRESS BY...

Watching reality TV/reading gossip mags. I am a huge fan of the Real Housewives (of anything) and other reality shows. :)

YOUR GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT...

I am so proud of my three college degrees (broadcast journalism, marketing and meteorology) , because I worked so hard for them. I'm also so proud that I achieved my dream job. Working at The Weather Channel had always been a goal, and it's as amazing as I could have hoped. I've never been happier! I'm also proud that I've stayed true to myself and down-to-earth throughout my career.

IF YOUR LIFE HAD A THEME SONG, IT WOULD BE...

I love Jessie J's "Wild" - it's about living your dream life and that's exactly what I'm doing!

WHEN YOU WERE A KID, WHAT DID YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU GREW UP...

I wanted to be a sportscaster - specifically an NHL commentator. I still love hockey and all sports... and sometimes get to make the connection between sports and weather, which is cool!

WHAT MAKES YOU FEEL BEAUTIFUL...

When someone says I made their day or am appreciated. Also, being happy makes me feel beautiful.

A HERO OF YOURS THAT EMANATES BEAUTY...

My mom - she is so selfless and loves to make people happy. On a professional level, the fellow female meteorologists I've had the luck of working with at The Weather Channel. They are a perfect blend of intelligence, grace and beauty. And they are some of the kindest people I know. Also, a friend of mine, Leslie, was so helpful in getting me into the business. She's also a total superwoman - she's a broadcaster, businesswoman, and awesome mom/wife.
